The people who were affected by the shooting were all young individuals in their twenties, and they were participating in a special community outreach program that happens only on Fridays. This wonderful initiative regularly provides food, clothes, and toys to those who are less fortunate and in need of support. At around 10:30 p.m., Chief Diaz talked to the media and shared that one person was in serious condition and had been immediately taken to Harborview Medical Centre for treatment. Fortunately, the injuries of two other men and a woman were not life-threatening, and they were taken to the hospital for treatment. A fifth victim was also treated there, where the shooting occurred.
Officers quickly responded to the scene following an urgent call from the police about the incident. The mayor and the police chief both rushed to the scene to see what was happening with their own eyes.
Chief Diaz voiced his extreme worry and concern at the terrible turn of events during the news conference. He really stressed that the victims were just trying to reach out and lend a helping hand to others, guiding them towards a brighter future. The police were actively and determinedly searching for at least two individuals who were believed to be involved in the shooting at the time of the press conference. Chief Diaz mentioned that they were still actively investigating the situation, and at this point, they haven’t determined whether the victims were specifically targeted or what exactly happened that led to the shooting.
Chief Diaz said that the police just made a sizable seizure of firearms, recovering the most firearms in the previous 15 years, while he reflected on the larger issue of violence in the city.
